Former Auburn football coach and athletic director Pat Dye passed away Monday at the age of 80.
Dye passed away from complications of kidney and liver failure. He was also an asymptomatic COVID-19 patient when he died.
Dye coached Auburn for 12 seasons and served as athletic director for 11, guiding the Tigers to a 99-39-4 record and at least a share of four SEC championships during his tenure. Among the players he coached was running back Bo Jackson, who played five seasons with the Kansas City Royals.
Dye also coached at East Carolina and Wyoming, amassing a 153-62-5 record in 19 seasons.
Dye was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005.
