Major League Soccer could have a lockout on its hands.
The league is at an impasse with negotiations with its players union. The players association has submitted a proposal including a 7.5 percent salary reduction, according to ESPN, and extending the ratification of the collective bargaining agreement for an additional year to 2025.
ESPN says the most recent pay cut proposal was 8.75 percent.
Both sides are also at odds over a clause that would allow either side to back out of a CBA in case of a pandemic. ESPN says the league wants the right to cite the clause if at least five teams suffer a year-to-year attendance drop of 25 percent or more. The union proposal does not include that option.
The league has given players until noon to accept the proposal or a lockout will begin.
