Sports Illustrated writer Peter King has the Kansas City Chiefs atop his NFL preseason rankings.
King says he “loves the offense too much to pick anyone else first,” although he has concerns about the defense, which was ranked 17th in the NFL last season. He’s also interested to see whether the Chiefs come back “fat and happy” instead of hungry to repeat.
Offensively, King says the selection of LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire could lead to a “lethal” combination with Damien Williams.
Other teams in the top 5 include Baltimore, New Orleans, San Francisco and Tampa Bay. For AFC West rivals, King has Las Vegas eighth, Denver 20th and the Los Angeles Chargers 23rd.
