Despite Lyon County moving into a modified phase three of its reopening plans, the Emporia Senior Center has announced it is continuing to suspend operations through the duration of the phase.
Operations will remain suspended until Jul. 9th according to Senior Center Director Ian Boyd. A news release from Boyd states the decision is a part of the center’s continued efforts to protect the “vulnerable population” from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The suspension affects all activities including AARP Tax Preparations and charitable gaming events such as bingo. Boyd says via the news release that group meals will continue to be served out of the Emporia Friendship Center in a carryout only capacity.
