The Midwest Plains Football League has announced will have a team in Emporia for its upcoming season.
The Emporia Brawlers will currently play its games on the road, according to league president Shawn Smith. The team is currently looking for players, coaches and a home field.
Now into its second year, the minor-league MPFL currently has seven teams, with clubs based in Clearwater; Oelwein, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska; St. Joseph, Missouri; Salina and Topeka as well as Emporia. The current plan has a 10-game schedule starting Aug. 1. With coronavirus still a concern, Smith says the league will follow state government guidelines when it comes to schedules.
