Sweltering conditions have been in place the past few days, and the worst of this current heat wave is yet to come.
The National Weather Service has announced a heat advisory for Lyon and all surrounding counties from 1-7 pm Saturday. Heat index values as high as 105 degrees are expected with highs in the mid-90s combining with dewpoints at or above 70 degrees.
Emporia’s heat index hit 100 degrees Wednesday and Thursday with afternoon highs in the low 90s. Thursday’s heat index was as high as 98.
With the heat possibly continuing into early next week, be sure to wear light, loose-fitting clothes, seek shade or air conditioning and drink lots of water. We’ll have updates on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
