No medical transports were needed following a two-vehicle collision in central Emporia Sunday.
According to Emporia Police Officer Kenny Rodriguez, a northbound Buick Lesabre was traveling on the Merchant Street overpass heading towards North Kansas Highway 99 when it struck a northbound Chevrolet Suburban from behind. The Lesabre was totaled while the Suburban suffered only minor damage to the rear passenger side.
Both vehicles had single occupants inside at the time of the collision. Both individuals were examined at the scene and neither required further medical treatment or hospitalization.
The driver of the Lesabre was cited for inattentive driving. Traffic was down to one lane in the area for roughly an hour as crews cleared debris and removed the vehicles from the scene.
