6 am Tuesday: Local quilter, community volunteer Rosaetta Fields passes away
Funeral services are pending for Rosaetta Fields, who passed away Sunday.
Fields was an active quilter and spearheaded what was originally called Quilts of Valor, a program honoring local and area veterans through the creation and donation of quilts as part of Emporia’s All Veterans Tribute activities. The name was later changed to Quilts of Gratitude, but Fields was still the driving force behind the event.
Fields was also heavily involved in the Newman Regional Health Auxiliary unit as a volunteer and event organizer.
