A strong cold front will give us the possibility for severe weather and straight-line winds resembling stronger storms.
A marginal to slight severe weather risk affects the area for Tuesday into early Wednesday. All hazards are possible, but TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says one possibility stands out. Winds will likely be an issue by Tuesday evening, regardless of storm activity. A wind advisory is up for Lyon, Coffey, Osage and Wabaunsee counties from 11 am to noon Wednesday. Greenwood County was originally included in that advisory, however, the National Weather Service has extended the Greenwood advisory from 7 pm Tuesday to noon Wednesday.
Chase and Morris counties are in a high wind warning from 7 pm Tuesday to 7 am Wednesday. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible, especially west of Emporia.
Cooler conditions are expected Wednesday, but those will be short-term as temperatures climb back to the upper 80s by Thursday.
