The Stars and Stripes were flying proudly in a lot of places areawide, and perhaps in no bigger concentration than on Interstate 35 at Road S on Sunday.
With the help of the Patriot Guard Riders, the Emporia Lions Club held a special Flag Day event on the bridge overlooking the Interstate. Incoming club president Cole Cassity says things went as well as could be imagined.
Club member Gary Post presented the idea to fellow club members, in part to draw more attention to Flag Day and also as a way to redevelop some club interaction with the public with a lot of club activities either postponed or canceled by coronavirus.
