An Indiana woman was hurt in a crash near the Kansas Turnpike’s Emporia exit Monday morning.
Lyon County Deputy Zach Shafer says 29-year-old Wandi Zhang was southbound on the Turnpike when she crashed roughly a mile northeast of the Emporia gate shortly before 9 am. Zhang, of Bloomington, Indiana, apparently fell asleep behind the wheel before veering to the center and hitting the barrier wall.
An ambulance took Zhang to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Deputies say she suffered apparently non-life-threatening injuries.

One person has been taken to Newman Regional Health after a crash near the Kansas Turnpike’s Emporia exit Monday morning.
The crash happened shortly before 9 am near mile marker 128, about a mile northeast of the Emporia gate. Details are currently pending.
Southbound traffic was constricted briefly but returned to normal flow around 9:45 am.
