Emporia City Commissioners will consider appointing members to a new task force aimed at assisting Emporia Fire and EMS.
During the commission’s study session last Wednesday, a proposal was made for the development of a task force to study capital improvement needs for Emporia Fire and EMS. Included in the recommendation was the appointment of a city commissioner and one city staff member to serve on the task force along with one commissioner and staff member from Lyon County.
Other possible task force members could include Fire/EMS staff, a member of the Lyon County Emergency Communications Center and possibly a representative of a rural fire district.
Separately, commissioners will consider an ordinance and Planned Unit Development request for storage at 2910 W. Hwy 50. A request for a public hearing regarding an appeal to the State Historic Preservation Office for property located at 713 Commercial and acceptance for a 2020 small cities community development block grant will also see consideration.
Three executive sessions are also planned. The meeting begins at 7 pm inside the Municipal Courtroom at White Auditorium.
