The Emporia Recreation Commission is putting summer camp back on the calendar starting next month.
On Monday’s Talk of Emporia, ERC RecXtra Program Supervisor Tiffany Barker unveiled the commission’s newest program, Camp Rec. The camp will consist of four one week sessions beginning Jul. 6 until Aug. 7 with a one week break scheduled from Jul. 20 to 26.
Barker says the ERC will have numerous mitigation strategies in place to reduce the possibility of potential COVID-19 spread.
Additionally, Barker says for anyone who may not be able to attend in person, they plan to provide online videos so everyone can join in the fun.
Barker says the ERC decided to host the camp this summer as they “wanted to make sure” the ERC offered something to the local community.
Parents do not need to sign their children up for all four weeks in order to participate. Registration opens on Monday, Jun. 22.
The announcement of Camp Rec comes as the Rec Center has begun to offer a number of youth and adult summer sports programs and camps.
