Federal relief dollars are coming to counties across Kansas after the State Finance Council approved a distribution plan for $400 million to battle the ongoing effects of COVID-19.
The board approved a plan from the Strengthening People and Revitalizing Kansas, or SPARK, Taskforce. Funding amounts per county have not been announced, but counties will receive funding based on population, coronavirus case rates and unemployment rates. Money can be used as direct aid or as reimbursements for eligible payments under the CARES Act.
Separately, the Finance Council approved nearly $17 million in reimbursements for coronavirus-related costs to state agencies.
