When Emporia State University begins the fall semester in two months, masks will be commonplace.
Students, faculty, staff, vendors and even visitors will need to wear masks when in campus buildings and in outdoor settings where safe social distancing can’t be attained. President Allison Garrett says it’s a way to keep everybody safe on campus.
Students coming to campus this fall will have slightly higher tuition and fees versus the fall 2019 semester after Board of Regents action Friday. There is an increase of $4.12 per credit hour for classes as well as an increase of $1.65 per credit for activity fees — meaning an overall tuition and fee increase of $86.55 per semester for a full-time resident undergraduate student. The tuition rate increases $76.73 for resident graduate students, $228.85 for nonresident undergraduate students and $238.63 nonresident graduate students.
Garrett says the university has done its best for years to keep tuition increases as low as possible, and this is one of the lowest increases for students over the last 20 years. Garrett is also pleased with two other stats demonstrating the value of an education through Emporia State.
Classes begin Aug. 17. Click here for a link to more information about the fall semester, including mask policy and health and safety guidelines for campus visitors.
