Traffic on a downtown Emporia street was rerouted briefly after a transformer fire Saturday.
Emporia Fire and Evergy were called to the 10 block of East Fourth shortly after noon after a transformer caught fire. Initial indications are a bird nest caused the transformer to catch fire.
No injuries were reported and no outages were listed on Evergy’s online tracking map. East Fourth was reopened before 1 pm.
