The Emporia Junior 17s baseball team finished in 2nd place in the Emporia Summer Slam tournament finishing the tournament with a 3 and 1 record.
The 17s were defeated by Iola 15-7 in the championship game. Iola put the game out of reach scoring 8 runs in the 6th inning.
Despite losing the championship game Coach Aiden Simecka called it a good weekend.
The 17s advanced to the championship game with an 8-7 win over El Dorado in the semi-finals. Vance Kinsey, Bobby Trujillo and John Pringle each drove in 2 runs to lead the offense.
The Emporia Juniors are now 6-5 for the season. They are scheduled to host Ottawa in a doubleheader Wednesday.
