Emporia Police officers say one person was hurt during a traffic incident in south Emporia early Wednesday — apparently as the result of a driving lesson gone wrong.
The incident happened in the 400 block of South Merchant around 6:40 am. Police Lt. Scott Stormont says one man was apparently getting a driving lesson from a 61-year-old woman. The driver came to a sudden stop for undetermined reasons, sending the woman forward and causing injuries.
The woman was taken to Newman Regional Health with non-life-threatening injuries. The man was not hurt but was cited for not having a driver’s license. Names have not been released.
