Lyon County is in line to receive funding through the US Department of Agriculture.
The county is eligible for up to $50,000 in grants to be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The money is designed for cities and towns with populations under 20,000. Smaller communities, especially those with the lowest median household income, are eligible for a higher percentage of grant funds.
Funding is through the USDA’s Rural Communities Infrastructure and Equipment program for counties impacted by natural disasters. A news release from Congressman Roger Marshall’s office did not specify the disasters that had Lyon County qualify for this revenue stream.
