The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will have a virtual meeting next week to discuss the safety performance of 12 nuclear power plants across the country, including Wolf Creek outside Burlington.
NRC staff will discuss the agency’s oversight process and answer questions during the meeting.
Wolf Creek and the 11 other nuclear plants operated safely last year, according to the NRC. All inspection findings and performance indicators for the plants were green, meaning low-level safety significance. These plants will receive normal levels of oversight, which still entails thousands of inspection hours per year.
The meeting will be held from 4:30-6:30 pm June 30. People interested in watching the meeting need to register online. The meeting will be recorded and available on the NRC website afterward. Access information is online at KVOE.com.
