Abnormally dry conditions now cover most of the KVOE listening area, based on the latest report by the US Drought Monitor.
The Drought Monitor says an area south of a line from near Dwight to Emporia and Interstate 35 east of Emporia are now abnormally dry, expanding an area that included smaller parts of Coffey and Greenwood counties last week.
The report reflects data collected through June 30, so Thursday’s heavy rainfall across parts of Lyon, Chase, Greenwood and Morris counties is not included.
