The Lyon County Fair Board is still determining whether the fair will take place as scheduled later this year. One key component, however, is no longer on the schedule.
Fair Board Vice President Jeremiah Corpening has confirmed to KVOE News the carnival is canceled, saying the Fair Board had to make a decision for the carnival company and Lyon County’s current coronavirus health guidelines don’t allow for carnivals to take place.
Lyon County’s current Phase 3 guidelines have been in place for a month, and the current plan is to revisit the COVID-19 recovery plan and decide on potential changes by next Thursday. If the fair can move forward, Corpening says mitigation measures would be needed to make sure events are safe as possible for all who attend. A list of potential safety measures has not been announced.
