The Fourth of July weekend is now upon us, but you won’t be getting any real bang for your buck at the gas pump.
Gas prices have been climbing slowly but steadily across the KVOE listening area since before Memorial Day with a change to summer-blend fuels and gradually stabilizing supplies after a price war between Russia and Saudi Arabia shoved gas prices down across the globe.
Prices had dipped as low as $1.55 in Emporia and down to $1.25 in Eureka earlier this year. Now Emporia’s gas prices run from $1.94 to $1.99 a gallon. Areawide, the low prices are in Eureka and Osage City at $1.89 a gallon.
