One man was hospitalized after an incident involving a pickup in an Emporia parking lot Friday morning, but the incident did not end up the way it first appeared.
Emporia Fire was called to the Walmart parking lot, 2301 Industrial, around 11:30 am. Battalion Chief Bill Harmon says a man was in the process of working on a truck when he suffered an apparent medical issue. He then got himself wedged at least somewhat under the truck afterward.
Emporia Fire was paged out twice to the scene for a potential trauma incident, but Harmon says trauma was not part of this call. An ambulance took the man to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment.
