The Emporia Senior baseball team played a couple of games Friday. They were late adds after the Fort Scott tournament was canceled for this weekend.
In their first game the 19s were out scored by the Topeka Scrappers, a team made up mostly of players from Topeka Seaman, 4-3.
Both teams scored a run in the 2nd inning. The Scrappers scored 2 runs in the 3rd. The 19s added a run in the 3rd. Both teams scored a run in the 6th.
Hunter Groh scored 2 of the Emporia runs. Kadyen Williams scored the other run.
Coach Anthony Markowitz was pleased with the way they battled.
The 19s won their 2nd game 15-5 over the Lawrence Chesty Lions. The 19s scored 9 of the runs in the 2nd inning. That was after they gave up 4 runs to Lawrence. Hayden Baumwart drove in 3 of the runs. Beau Baumgardner, John Miller and Hunter Groh each drove in 2 runs.
Coach Anthony Markowitz said they answered a challenge.
The Emporia Seniors are now 12-6 for the season. They are next scheduled to host the Sam Ellis Classic next weekend.
