The Kansas City, Kansas man accused of killing his 3-year-old daughter has been charged with her death. So has the man’s girlfriend.
Howard Jansen III and Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick were charged Sunday with first-degree murder, aggravated child endangerment and child desecration. The desecration charge comes from “unlawfully and knowingly obtaining unauthorized control of a dead body.” Details behind the charges have not been announced.
Jansen was arrested Friday night, shortly after Olivia Jansen’s body was found roughly a mile from the family house. Kirkpatrick was arrested Sunday.
Jansen originally told authorities the last time he saw Olivia was 11 pm Thursday. He then said he woke up around 5:30 am Friday to find her gone and a door open, but he didn’t report her missing for another three hours. However, KCK officers say several stories developed Friday that didn’t add up.
Word on first court appearances is pending.

Both Kirkpatrick and Jansen are being held on a 48-hour hold.
Friday morning, Olivia Jansen was reported missing by her father who stated he awoke to find that she was not in their home and the backdoor to the residence was open. Given Olivia’s age and a subsequent search of the area, an AMBER Alert was issued.
The alert was canceled around 6 pm Friday evening after a body was discovered along a hiking trail less than half a mile away from the Jansen residence. Further details are currently pending. Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for more developments as they become available.
