The Emporia Kiwanis Club is set to serve the community Saturday morning.
The club will be hosting its rescheduled pancake day from 7 am to 1 pm. The event was scheduled to take place in March but had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kiwanis Club member Mike Perigo says this year’s pancake day will be drastically different from year’s past as it will be a drive-thru only event.
Another change to this year’s pancake day is that it will not be an all you can eat event. Each container will include three pancakes, sausage, syrup and butter. Although you cannot get all the pancakes you can eat, club member Joan Kloppenberg says residents are welcome to purchase more tickets to go through the line more than once.
Additionally, this year there will be no coffee served with breakfast this year according to Kloppenberg, however, water, milk and chocolate milk will still be available.
The pancake breakfast is the largest fundraiser for the club each year according to Kloppenberg. Funds will be utilized to support club service projects in the Lyon County area in the upcoming year.
Tickets for the breakfast are $5 and can be purchased the day of. Tickets that were purchased for the March breakfast before its postponement will still be valid.
