(ap/nascar) Chase Elliott collected the checkered flag at NASCAR’s All-Star race and soaked in the sounds of fans in the grandstands.
Chase Elliott joined his father, Hall of Famer Bill Elliott, as winner of NASCAR’s annual All-Star race, earning the $1 million prize Wednesday in front of an estimated 20 thousand spectators at the Tennessee track.
Clint Bowyer was announced as the All-Star Race Fan Vote winner for the final spot in the NASCAR All-Star Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Bowyer was the top vote-getter among drivers not already qualified for the main event. The fans’ choice put his No. 14 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford into the field as the 20th and final entry.
Bowyer finished in 15th place.
The NASCAR Cup series will be at Texas Speedway for a race this Sunday.
