Lyon County deputies are investigating how two apparently related mud-and-gravel spills developed west of Emporia on Wednesday evening.
Initially, the call to US Highway 50 and Road F was for a hazardous material spill. However, Emporia Fire and Lyon County deputies quickly determined the spill was for mud and not anything hazardous.
The truck responsible for the spill has not been found. One spill apparently started on US-50 near Road E and tracked east to near Road E-5. The other started about a quarter-mile west of Road F and continued to the east a few hundred feet past the intersection.
