The Granada Theatre will be hosting its latest virtual show this weekend as it continues adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past few months, the Granada has featured a number of local artists on its stage including Emporia based bands Sam and the Firewatchers and All From Nothing as well as local singer Lady J. Each of these shows has been streamed to the public via Facebook live with a limited number of individuals being permitted to attend the shows in person to keep with social distancing guidelines.
Granada Director Rebecca Herrera, a recent guest of KVOE’s Newsmaker segment, says while capacity is limited, it has not stopped the theatre from drastically stepping up its cleaning procedures.
Up next for the Granada will be Wisconsin based rock band the Almas. The band is described as the “truest essence of Rock n’ Roll” bringing a combination of “guitar-driven licks, road dog attitudes and high energy” to the stage.
On a somber note, Herrera says that the Eli Young Band and Ashley Barron concerts which were scheduled to take place this year have been postponed to the fall of 2021. Herrera says anyone wishing for a refund can receive them through credit vouchers.
She also asks if anyone would be willing to donate their tickets to the Granada it would be greatly appreciated.
The Almas will be taking the stage at 7 pm Saturday evening. In-person attendance is permitted, however, it is limited to 45 people with 26 tickets still remaining.
