Voters interested in taking care of their civic responsibility before the Aug. 4 primary have several options to do so. One of those is on the community calendar Saturday.
The Lyon County Election Office has a special offsite voter event from 8 am to 1 pm Saturday at Flinthills Mall. County Clerk Tammy Vopat says standard COVID-19 precautions will take place.
Precautions also include having two fewer voting machines than normal to foster social distancing.
Over 3,300 mail ballots — nearly 10 times the normal amount for a presidential general election — have been sent out to Lyon County voters, and the deadline to request a ballot is July 28. In-office advance voting then begins Monday and continues until noon Aug. 3.
