(kcroyals/mlb) The Kansas City Royals have traded pitcher Tim Hill to San Diego for two players, right-handed pitcher Ronald Bolaños and outfielder Franchy Cordero.
Bolaños, 23, has been known to hit 100 mph on the radar gun, though he usually sits around 93-94. He was the Padres’ No. 16 prospect per MLB Pipeline.
Cordero has been derailed by injuries the last two seasons. In 2018, he slugged .439 with the Padres with seven home runs and five doubles in 40 games.
Hill appeared in 116 games over the past two seasons. In 2019, Hill posted a 3.63 ERA in 46 games.
The Royals next week will be playing 3 exhibition games before they open the season next Friday at Cleveland.
Manager Mike Matheney, on the MLB Networks High Heat, said it has been a good summer camp.
The Royals will host Houston in games Monday night and Tuesday afternoon. They will play at St. Louis Wednesday afternoon.
All 3 games will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
