The West was the winner of the 47th Annual Kansas Shrine Bowl All-Star football game 14-9 over the East Saturday night.
The East scored first on a 22 yard field goal in the 1st quarter. The West took the lead for good in the 2nd quarter, capping off an 14 play 83 yard drive with a 1 yard touchdown run by Kade Melvin of Norton. The West led 8-3 at halftime.
The West added to their lead on a 44 yard touchdown run by Dalton Miller of Great Bend in the 3rd quarter give the West a 14-3 lead.
The East tried to rally in the 4th quarter. Connor Haviland of Humbolt scored on a 1 yard run in the 4th quarter to cut the deficit to 14-9. The East had a late score wiped off the board by an offensive pass interference penalty.
Emporia Highs Riley Wagner was the starting center for the East squad. Colby Hoelting of Olpe and Tee Preisner of Northern Heights played for the East squad on defense.
The 2021 Shrine Bowl game scheduled to be played in Hutchinson.
