The Kansas City Royals were out scored by the Houston Astros 6-3 in an exhibition game Monday night.
The Astros scored a run in the 1st inning and added 4 runs in the 4th inning to take a 5-0 lead.
Salvador Perez hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 4th.
Bubba Starling added a 2 run home run in the 8th for the Royals.
The Royals and Astros are scheduled to play again Tuesday afternoon with first pitch at 1:05p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400/96.9FM.
Whit Merrifield, who started in centerfield last night, says he likes what he sees from the Royals.
The Royals will also play an exhibition game at St. Louis Wednesday before opening the season Friday at Cleveland.
