(yahoo/ap)The Kansas City Chiefs rookies reported for training camp Monday, were tested for COVID-19 and then sent home.
The Chiefs began the intake process for first-year players Monday after the NFL gave them the go-ahead along with the Houston Texans, their opponent in the season opener Sept. 10.
But it could be quite a while before they get on the field: All players must test negative twice before they are admitted to the facility, then they will spend a couple of days doing the more routine physicals and getting their equipment sorted out.

The NFL and NFL Players Association have reached agreement on one of the biggest lingering issues regarding the approach to pro football in a pandemic, according to the Associated Press.
The NFL has agreed to conduct daily COVID-19 testing.
The NFL has also offered to scrap all preseason games.
The players’ association had sought no preseason games and the league had reduced the exhibition schedule to two games. But on Monday evening, the NFL said it would eliminate those preseason contests and also would offer players 18 days for acclimation, up from seven days.
