ESU Athletics confirmed three student-athletes have developed coronavirus.
The university confirmed their status Wednesday. All three were asymptomatic and had not started voluntary summer conditioning. ESU has tested almost 90 athletes and staff this summer.
ESU says those that test positive will be “medically managed” following the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Lyon County, NCAA and ESU.
Emporia State Athletic Director Kent Weiser says the testing is accomplishing what it was designed to do.
Mr. Weiser also added that it reminds us that everyone is susceptible to catching the virus. And to keep wearing masks, social distance and take all precautions that are recommended.
