At least for this election cycle, Lyon County’s registered voters have changed their advance vote habits.
The Lyon County Election Office mailed out roughly 3,500 ballots, and over 1,000 of those have come back over the last week. By contrast, only around 100 people have voted inside the County Courthouse.
County Clerk Tammy Vopat says there has been one major question that has arisen about the mail ballots: whether residents have to pay return postage.
The deadline to request a mail ballot is Tuesday, but people may need to bring those ballots back to the County Courthouse so they can be counted.
In-office advance voting continues until noon Aug. 3. The primary election is Aug. 4. KVOE News will have complete election coverage after the polls close Election Night.
