Further details have come to light regarding a vehicle accident that damaged an Emporia building and led to the arrest of one individual early Saturday morning.
According to documents provided to KVOE News by Emporia Police, Wesley Hull Frey, age and hometown not listed, was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of DUI, meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Frey’s arrest followed two separate accidents the first of which was a hit and run involving a 2000 Jeep Wrangler driven by Sara Coltrane, age and hometown also not listed.
According to the accident report, Coltrane was facing east in the northbound turning lane at the intersection of West Sixth Avenue and Commercial Street just after 12 am. A westbound vehicle then drifted into Coltrane’s traffic lane and struck the front bumper and fender of the Jeep and fled the scene.
The vehicle involved was described by witnesses as a dark blue or grey Honda Civic with a male and female inside. Meanwhile, additional officers were responding to an injury accident at 1225 W. 6th Ave involving a 2006 Honda Civic which had crashed into the Agler and Gaeddert building.
Witnesses positively identified the vehicle as the same one involved in the hit and run at Sixth and Commercial. The driver, identified as Frey was treated, released and later arrested at the scene. On top of the aforementioned charges Frey was also issued a citation by officers for leaving the scene of an accident.
Formal charges are pending.
