It’s been a while since KVOE News told you of scam activity as reported by area law enforcement. The Chase County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a scam allegedly involving law enforcement.
The Sheriff’s Office says people are identifying themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officers. They demand personal information like Social Security number, drivers license number, home address and the like, and they demand large sums of money as a way to evade arrest, felony charges or other law enforcement action.
The Sheriff’s Office says no law enforcement agency will call to ask for personal information or money. If you get such a call, hang up and call local law enforcement.
