Emporia Main Street will be recognizing the hard work put in by volunteers and local businesses during their annual meeting Thursday evening.
Among the awards to be handed out Thursday night will be the Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Advocate of the Year, The J Warren Brinkman Preservation Award and the Steve Hanshu Excellence in Design Award. This year’s meeting will be moving to a virtual format due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Main Street Director Casey Woods says due to bylaws, not having a meeting this year was never an option. He says all of Main Street has been hard at work the past several weeks to find the best option to both hold the meeting and still have residents attend in some way.
Woods encourages all residents who plan to tune in to the meeting to either pick up dinner from their favorite restaurant or snag a beverage at their favorite drinking establishment as they tune in. Thursday’s meeting will also include an opportunity for local residents to win prizes through an online trivia competition. The meeting begins at 6:30 pm via Facebook Live.
