The Emporia Recreation Commission held a special meeting Monday evening to make a minor correction to the 2021 budget.
According to Emporia Rec Director Tom McEvoy, the correction was needed due to a lease to purchase agreement item being inadvertently omitted from the budget. The item in question was a lawnmower purchased back in 2018.
McEvoy says the adjustment will have no effect on the budget and the meeting was simply a technicality. The board unanimously approved the budget as amended for publication purposes.
An additional budget hearing will be held ahead of the board’s monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 17. Last Monday, the ERC Board formally approved the 2021 budget for publication with a general fund of just over $4.1 million.
KVOE has reported recently that the only significant changes to the budget from the previous fiscal year was a 35 percent increase in the budget’s reserve and a slight increase in the capital outlay budget.
This year’s budget will also see a reduction in expenses by seven percent following a decrease in revenues back in May.
