Finances took a hit in June at Flint Hills Community Health Center.
During the monthly board of directors meeting Tuesday, Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold reported the clinic saw a $447,000 net loss for the month. The loss attributes to an accumulative net loss of $496,000 for FHCHC.
A major factor that attributed to the loss was the health center’s utilization of the SBA’s paycheck protection program. According to Ringgold, revenues for the program are not recognized until completion of the program’s duration, however, the costs are still incurred by the health center month-to-month.
Ringgold says the health center will be eligible for forgiveness of the PPP expenditures once the program reaches its conclusion potentially offsetting the recent losses.
Revenues for the month were 53.65 percent under budget for the month. 23 percent was attributed to a dip in productivity.
This is a vast improvement from the dip of 70 percent in productivity back in April. Ringgold says the health center has seen a steady incline in productivity since May.
In other business, Emergency Preparedness Director Jennifer Millbern presented an environmental health update. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic environmental health has taken on the additional task of providing community outreach and support to the local community according to Millbern.
According to Millbern environmental health conducts site visits both by request and in response to concerns of potential COVID-19 spread. If businesses would like to schedule a site visit contact the FHCHC coronavirus hotline by calling 620-208-3741.
Separately, the board approved the normal slate of reports from the medical, dental and behavioral health clinics as well as the monthly CQI report. The board also unanimously approved a new paid sick leave and family medical leave act expansion policy.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will reconvene for its monthly meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25 at noon.
