A tenth Lyon County resident has now died due to coronavirus.
Lyon County Public Health confirmed the death Wednesday afternoon. The patient who died was a white male in his 70’s.
This is the second COVID-19 related death to be reported over the past two days after Public Health confirmed the county’s ninth death Tuesday.
That patient was also identified as a white male in his 70’s who passed away last Wednesday.
Lyon County Public health is reporting 61active COVID-19 cases. That’s a decrease of 7 from Tuesdays count. There are 5 new cases in Wednesdays update. That increases the number of total cases to 629.
There are 11 new recoveries for 557 total. There are now 8 Lyon County residents hospitalized.
Three area counties are also reporting new cases.
Osage County is reporting 5 new cases. Three of those cases have been linked to individuals who have recently visited the Osage County Senior Center according the Osage County Health Department.
Coffey County is reporting 1 new case and now has 5 active cases.
Greenwood County is reporting 1 new case and now has 6 active cases.
Wabaunsee County is still reporting 2 active cases.
Chase County is reporting 1 active case.
Morris County is reporting no active cases.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting 698 new COVID-19 cases and 14 new deaths in Wednesdays update.
There are now 26,870 total cases and 349 deaths being reported in Kansas.
