The Cottonwood River at Emporia is now officially out of a flood warning. However, a few roads in Lyon and Chase counties are still officially closed due to heavy rainfall from last week.
In Lyon County, the list currently includes:
*600, 700, 800 blocks of Road 160
*800 block of Road 165
*1600 block of Road G

The Chase County Sheriff’s Office is reporting several roads near the Cottonwood River from Elmdale east to Saffordville as blocked at this time.
The Cottonwood River at Emporia was removed from a flood warning Sunday afternoon, thus clearing all area flood warnings that developed late last week after as much as seven inches of rain fell in Chase County from Thursday night into Friday. The Cottonwood crested at 22.07 feet early Sunday and is now well below flood stage.
We’ll enjoy cooler than normal conditions to start this week with high temperatures around 80 degrees through Wednesday. Slight chances of thunderstorms return Tuesday, and more seasonal temperatures are back in the picture by Friday with highs in the low 90s expected.
