Most of the KVOE listening area has been placed in a heat advisory for Saturday afternoon and evening.
Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are now in a heat advisory from 1-8 pm. This is a slightly longer and larger advisory than the original alert announced Friday, with Morris County now included.
Air temperatures will be in the mid-90s. Heat index readings could be anywhere from 105-110, so residents need to spend as much time as possible in air conditioning or shade. Light, loose-fitting clothes should be the rule of the day. Drink lots of water. Be sure to check in on the young, the elderly and pets as well.
A repeat performance is possible Sunday.
Stay with KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media for updates.
