Lyon County deputies say a 19-year-old Fort Riley man crashed outside Bushong and was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment afterward Saturday.
Deputy Zach Shafer says deputies, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers, Emporia/Lyon County EMS and Fire District 2 Allen-Admire first responders were toned out to US Highway 56 just east of Road F after a reported rollover crash. Authorities learned Brandon Elizalde-Lopez was eastbound on US-56 when he went off the highway into the south ditch. Elizalde-Lopez overcorrected, getting his car briefly back onto the highway, but it went back into the south ditch and rolled.
Elizalde-Lopez was wearing his seatbelt when the crash happened. Deputies are leading the investigation.
