Another steamy day is in store across most of the KVOE listening area.
For the second straight day, Lyon, Coffey, Morris, Osage and Wabaunsee counties are in a heat advisory from 1-8 pm. For the second straight day, air temperatures will be in the mid-90s with heat index values as high as 104-110.
At the Emporia Municipal Airport, Saturday’s peak temperature was 95 shortly before 5 pm. The peak heat index was 106 between 3-5 pm.
The National Weather Service reminds you to drink lots of water, stay in air-conditioned rooms if possible, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. It also reminds you young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances, especially with heat such as this in the forecast.
