Lyon County deputies are investigating an unattended death that happened about three miles southwest of Emporia last week.
Detective Sergeant Jacob Welsh says deputies responded to the 1300 block of Road E shortly after 6:30 pm Aug. 6. A man had been driving on the Kansas Turnpike and used a floodgate to leave the highway to get onto Road E. He left his vehicle and died shortly afterward.
The man’s name has not been released. Forensic Medical of Kansas City, Lyon County’s coroner, is helping deputies with the investigation.
