Storms could redevelop along the Kansas Turnpike and Interstate 35 corridors Monday. Some could be severe.
The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a slight severe weather risk area for the entire KVOE listening area from Monday afternoon into the evening hours. The main concern is wind as high as 70 mph, but hail up to 1.25 inches in diameter or half-dollar size is also possible with stronger cells. Heavy rainfall and frequent lightning are other concerns.
This follows isolated damage to power poles and trees in south Lyon County from storms Sunday night. Evergy is in the process of replacing 11 power poles that were damaged.
The Sunday storms brought varying amounts of rainfall to the area:
*KVOE studios: 0.20 inches
*Emporia Municipal Airport: 0.23 inches
*Tenth and Weaver: 0.25 inches
*Allen: 0.40 inches
*Neosho Rapids: 0.45 inches
*Olpe: 0.50 inches
*Five miles southwest of Olpe: 1.5 inches
