An early morning structure fire brought the Emporia Fire Department and Lyon County Deputies to the 1200 block of Road 210 Saturday morning.
Emergency crews were called to a residence at 1247 Road 210, roughly six miles north of Emporia, shortly before 5:15 am. According to Lyon County Deputy Eric Williams, the owner of the residence was awoken by the sound of crackling outside the home.
The homeowner went outside to inspect the sound and found a detached garage on the property was fully engulfed in flames. The fire spread to a nearby vehicle, however, fire crews managed to prevent the flames from reaching the home.
The detached garage and vehicle were both destroyed by the fire. No injuries were reported as all residents of the home were inside asleep at the time.
According to Deputy Williams, the cause of the fire was determined to be due to an “electrical problem.”
